Hosted by Uni Hub Spencer Gulf in partnership with Workforce Australia – Local Jobs, the roadshow featured five interactive zones: Apprenticeships and Traineeships, Tertiary Education, Vocational Education and Training, Employers and Industry Groups, and Essential and Support Services. Exhibitors included local employers, universities, training providers, and recruitment services - offering practical advice, pathway information, and on-the-spot application opportunities.
Sam Amato, Uni Hub Spencer Gulf’s School Engagement Coordinator, said the Career Roadshow has become an essential event on the regional calendar.
“These events help young people see that they don’t have to leave the region to chase their dreams - there are genuine, exciting pathways right here at home,” Ms Amato said. “It’s also a great space for parents, carers and teachers to get informed, so they can better support young people in making future decisions.
“Students tell us they often don’t realise how many different pathways exist until they speak directly with industry and training reps. It’s incredibly empowering for them.” Ms Amato praised the commitment of exhibitors and the strong community turnout across all five sites. “Our goal has always been to help regional people connect with real-world pathways, whether they’re finishing school, changing careers or returning to the workforce,” she said.
“The face-to-face engagement makes such a difference. These conversations and hands-on experiences can open someone’s eyes to a whole new career direction. “We’re especially grateful to the exhibitors who made the effort to attend multiple locations - their support is what makes this event such a success.” The Career Roadshow was made possible through the support of the Local Buying Foundation and Veterans SA, with additional backing from local Councils, Regional Development Australia, and Local Health Networks.
