CUC Western Riverina Awarded Outstanding Community Organisation at 2023 Griffith Business Awards

On the 5th of August, CUC Western Riverina was awarded Outstanding Community Organisation at the 2023 Griffith Business Awards. This outstanding achievement brings to light how important regional study centres are and their impact.

Below is a copy of their Facebook post that outlines their incredible achievement:

"Last night, CUC Western Riverina was awarded Oustanding Community Organisation at the 2023 Griffith Business Awards. The Centre was proud to be nominated alongside a host of incredible community organisations, all of whom work above and beyond for the greater good. We thank the Griffith Business Chamber and award sponsors Owen Toyota.

Since 2019, we have supported 612 students across 23 universities, TAFE and RTOs. Close to 50% of our students are first in family to complete a higher education qualification, 6% are First Nations people, and 75% female. Our students are the inspiration for everything that we do.

The Australian Government Department of Education continues to support the growing Regional Universities Study Hubs, including the Country Universities Centre network with a recent announcement of a further 34 hubs across Australia. We are fortunate enough to also have the support of the NSW Government and Griffith City Council and Leeton Shire Council.

Each CUC Centre is owned, governed, and driven by its local community through an independent Board of Directors who volunteer their time and are committed to equity and access to higher education for our regional students. On the ground, CUC Western Riverina has an incredible team that provides wrap-around support to students (187 for Semester 2), with expertise, empathy, and a can-do approach that makes them the dream team! We feel incredibly proud to receive this award."
