Media Release by Taree Universities Campus
Following the significant impact of the May 2025 floods on Taree Universities Campus (TUC), the future of the region’s leading careers expo, CareerQuip, was briefly in doubt. The usual event site at TUC sustained damage and was deemed unfit to host the thousands of students and exhibitors expected to attend. However, thanks to strong community collaboration and quick decision-making, organisers have confirmed CareerQuip 2025 will go ahead - relocated to the Taree TAFE campus on Thursday, 31 July 2025.
With the University of New England (UNE) returning as a Major Sponsor, ensuring the continuation of the event was a top priority. The move to TAFE not only secures the event’s future but also highlights the strength of partnerships across the Mid Coast education sector.
“CareerQuip has always received overwhelming support from local schools and the wider community,” says Donna Ballard, CEO of TUC. “Relocating the event to the TAFE campus was a clear and strategic decision. TUC and TAFE stand together in their unwavering commitment to delivering education and career pathways that directly benefit the Mid Coast region.”
CareerQuip 2025 is set to be one of the biggest yet, with over 50 confirmed exhibitors and 1,670 students from 22 schools across the Mid Coast region registered to attend. Students will be travelling from as far as Kempsey, Bulahdelah and Gloucester, eager to explore a wide range of hands-on career, training, and education experiences.
Campus Coordinator Evan Weller shared, “Exhibitor interest has been particularly high this year - we’ve reached maximum capacity and closed registrations last week.” New exhibitors for 2025 include TOCAL College, St John NSW, and MAS National Apprenticeships, joining returning favourites such as ADF Careers, The Hotel School, JR Richards, Men and Women at Work, and Hunter New England Health.
UNE’s expanded offerings this year include displays and advisors from Criminology, Artificial Intelligence, and Exercise & Sports Science. Year 12 students will also benefit from the presence of the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), offering guidance on university options and application processes.
CareerQuip remains proudly supported by its founding sponsors: TAFE, Mid Coast Connect, the Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP) program, and Taree Universities Campus. CareerQuip commences at 9am and finishes by 2pm, and it is not just for students to attend - all locals are encouraged to visit and explore what’s possible for their future.
