News article by Taree Universities Campus

Taree Universities Campus (TUC) is proud to have sponsored the Team Award at this year's MidCoast Youth Awards, held in Monday 26 August 2024. The event, which celebrates the remarkable contributions of young people aged 12-24 across the MidCoast region, once again highlighted the spirit, dedication, and innovation of our youth.

The MidCoast Youth Awards recognise the invaluable efforts of young individuals in various fields through seven distinct categories. This year, a total of $250 in eftpos vouchers was awarded to the winners of each individual category, while the Team category - newly introduced in 2024 and proudly sponsored by TUC - awarded a $500 eftpos voucher. This new category acknowledges the exceptional teamwork, leadership, and collaborative spirit shown by young people in their communities, schools, and clubs.

We are thrilled to have presented the inaugural Team Award to Gloucester Gymnastics. This talented group of young athletes exemplified what it means to work together effectively, achieving their goals with integrity and inspiring others within their community. Their commitment to supporting each other and fostering a positive environment for all members stood out to the judges. Gloucester Gymnastics showcased a model of teamwork that resonates strongly with TUC's values of collaboration and community impact.

In addition, TUC nominated Chelsea Harvey, the founder and owner of Homework Hub, for the Entrepreneur Award, and we are delighted that she emerged victorious. Chelsea's venture, Homework Hub, operates from 2 Pulteney Street and provides personalised tutoring services for primary and high school students. Her commitment to educational excellence and creativity in overcoming obstacles has created a nurturing environment where students thrive academically while fostering their creative potential. This award recognises Chelsea’s innovation, vision, and her unwavering drive to establish a successful business that positively impacts the community.

These achievements reflect the vibrant talent and entrepreneurial spirit within the MidCoast region, qualities that TUC is dedicated to nurturing. Our involvement in the MidCoast Youth Awards aligns with our mission to support local youth in realising their full potential without needing to leave their community. By sponsoring events like these, TUC aims to inspire future generations and promote a culture of aspiration and inclusivity throughout the MidCoast.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees of the MidCoast Youth Awards 2024. Your achievements inspire us all and reinforce our commitment to fostering a supportive and thriving community here at TUC.
