New Campus Manager Kate Goodes appointed at Barossa Regional University Campus (BRUC)

The Barossa Regional University Campus (BRUC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Goodes as its new Campus Manager, effective April 23, 2025.

BRUC is part of the Australian Government’s Regional University Study Hubs program, an initiative of the Department of Education. Proudly managed and operated by Regional Development Australia Barossa Gawler Light Adelaide Plains (RDABGLAP), the campus provides free access to study spaces, technology, academic support, and a supportive campus environment for students studying online with any Australian tertiary provider.

Kate’s appointment follows a competitive recruitment process led by RDABGLAP, attracting strong candidates from across South Australia. As a former BRUC student and current PhD candidate, Kate brings a unique blend of academic expertise, community leadership, and lived experience of regional study.

Kate joins BRUC from the University of Adelaide, where she served as Education Quality Officer and University Liaison within the School of Education. There, she contributed to student mentoring, workforce development, and academic program reviews. She also taught undergraduate and postgraduate education courses through the University of Tasmania, enriching her understanding of regional learning pathways.

Beyond academia, Kate has held leadership roles such as National Professional Development Coordinator at Musica Viva Australia and State Coordinator for the Australian Youth Orchestra’s “Music in Me” program. She has led statewide outreach initiatives, secured vital project funding, and developed impactful partnerships with schools, government, and tertiary institutions.

Importantly, Kate is also a dedicated contributor to the local community. As Musical Director of the Nuriootpa Town Band, former Chair of the SA Chapter of the Australian Society for Music Education (2021–2024), and a mentor in numerous local music and youth programs, she exemplifies the spirit of connection and contribution that defines BRUC.

“I’m honoured to return to BRUC in this new role,” said Ms Goodes. “Having experienced first-hand the opportunities this campus provides, I’m excited to work alongside students, partners, and the wider community to continue building a strong future for regional education.”

“My goal is to ensure BRUC is not just a place to study, but a vibrant hub where students feel supported, connected, and empowered to pursue their goals — no matter where they’re starting from.”

RDABGLAP CEO Jennifer Lynch welcomed Kate’s appointment, noting the significance of her return to the campus.

“Kate brings a rare combination of local insight and national experience. Her appointment reflects RDABGLAP’s commitment to regional education that is accessible, aspirational, and deeply connected to community,” said Ms Lynch. “We’re thrilled to welcome her back to BRUC and look forward to the next chapter under her leadership.”
