Nuriootpa, SA – Many aspiring food industry professionals in the Barossa Gawler Light Adelaide Plains region have faced the challenge of travelling to Regency TAFE, near Adelaide, to pursue training in food processing. This commute has been a barrier for locals looking to develop skills in a field that is vital to the region. However, this could soon change.
The Barossa Regional University Campus is exploring the potential to offer the Certificate III in Food Processing in Nuriootpa, starting in 2025. Backed by Food South Australia and delivered by the Australian Food Training Centre, this program would make food industry training more accessible to local residents, creating new opportunities for local talent. BRUC is supported by the Australian Government through the Regional University Study Hubs Program.
To share more about these opportunities, the campus will host a Food Processing Pathways Info Session on Wednesday, 9th October 2024, giving the community a chance to learn more about what the course could offer.
Event Highlights:
Meet representatives from leading local businesses, including Careme, Relish of the Barossa, Wiech’s Barossa Valley Egg Noodles, Maggie Beer, and Barossa Valley Cheese Company.
Hear directly from these employers about the on-the-job training opportunities they are developing to support local talent.
Learn how the Certificate III in Food Processing, if launched, could provide hands-on learning through a 12-month traineeship.
